Tropical PC Solutions: WordPress Plugin Tutorial
Installing one of our gadgets into your Wordpress blog is a fairly straight forward process. I will walk you through the general steps and you will easily be able to change the widget or add other widgets with simple modifications.
- Download the Plugin file(s) here.
- Step I: Upload the
tpcs-plugin folder to your /wp-content/plugins/ directory on your server space.
- Step II: Log into your Wordpress Admin page and click on the "Plugins" link on the left. Locate the TPCS widget and activate this new plugin by pressing the "Activate" link:
- Step III: Next to the "Activate" link you will see an "Edit" link (see above). Click the "Edit" link and edit the config.txt file. Here is where you enter the actual widget
<script>embed code</script>. Replace the phrase "Enter SCRIPT code here" with the actual code:
- Step IV: Click on the "Appearance" link on the left and then click on the "Widgets" sub-link. Add the widget to your Wordpress sidebar by dragging it to the sidebar field:
- Step V: Load your blog and verify that the install process was successful by viewing your live widget:
At this point your widget should be installed to your blog. If you want to change the widget, you simply open the config.txt file with your editor (see step III above) and add the <script> embed code </script> of the widget you want to display.
